Safety is important at any age, even though we might put most of our concerns towards our children, fearing they don’t know any better. But it’s interesting to think how we almost seem to revert back towards our infantile state as we approach our late years. That is why senior citizen safety around one’s home is so crucial. Their bodies are even more fragile and they need to be extra careful.

One of the biggest concerns in the home for the elderly are tripping hazards. Slippery hardwood floors can be dangerous but so can rugs if they’re not firmly planted down. All area rugs should have a foam base underneath to prevent them from moving around. Be wary of corners which can easily roll up and pose a threat. Securely tie up any extension cords or cords from lamps and other electronic devices.
